International Scientific Conference ,,Development Perspectives of Georgian-Ossetian relations”

On October 13-15, 2026, the Georgian-Ossetian Relations Scientific-Research Center of Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University will organize the twelfth international scientific conference: “Development Perspectives of Georgian-Ossetian Relations.” The conference is dedicated to the 150th anniversary of the birth of Ivane Javakhishvili.

Report topics:

The plenary session will be dedicated to Ivane Javakhishvili, who made a great contribution to the establishment of the first university in the Caucasus, as well as to the development of Georgian-Ossetian relations, the study and teaching of the history of the Ossetian people, the Ossetian language, and Ossetian folklore.

 

The conference will feature six sections and a round table for students and young scholars:

1. Literary studies, linguistics, lexicology;

2. Folkloristics, ethnology, history, archaeology;

3. Philosophy, ethics, religion, education;

4. Culture and art;

5. Interdisciplinary studies;

6. Media and mass communication;
 

Round table for students and young scholars.

 

 

The purpose of the conference:

The purpose of the international scientific conference “Development Perspectives of Georgian-Ossetian Relations” is to promote the transition of Georgian-Ossetian relations to a new stage, modern interdisciplinary research.

 

Areas of research:

Folklore, literature, linguistics, history, philosophy, religion, archeology, ethnology, education, cultural studies, art history, conflicts, media, migration.

 

Working languages:

Georgian, Ossetian, English, Russian.

October 15 - Cultural program: Excursion to Kakheti, public holiday “Kostaoba” (Lagodekhi district, village Areshferani)

Length: maximum 1 page (250 words)


Abstracts will be submitted to the conference organizing committee for consideration, and you will be notified of the inclusion of the report in the program on September 15, 2026.

After the end of the conference, participants will be awarded certificates of participation in the event.

There is no registration fee for speakers participating in the conference.

The conference abstracts and the reports read will be published.
